My Deepavali Poem

Deepavali - Days of yore

The months that lead to Deepavali in eager mirth I used to wait
For dainty dresses in pairs and threes; to choose the best colour was the joyful bait
.
Shopping yesterday today and tomorrow for clothes, sweets and modish crackers,
Innocent joy filled the gaps of a school day as mom was busy analyzing the recipe tracker.
.
Dad was the ever benevolent, making time for all my crazy whims and wishes
A black cap gun, a snake, a train - the list of nascent wishes never finishes
.
The Dday dawned; Oh no for the day has not yet dawned, its dark & our eyes are awake n bright Sweet Mom’s sweets start the festive moods & the thousand-walla is tempting for the light
.
The dresses and their newness creates a resplendent smile, a feeling of love, warmth & real joy
After lighting crackers for a long long while, the soft Idli’s with sweets n savouries we enjoy
.
Then relatives swarm the house with gifts & love always smeared with chit-chats & more fun
Elders blessings & youngsters pranks - The lovely day; in comparison is none.
.
Happy Deepavali - Wishing all my friends & relatives, let happiness come your way more & more
May you have the same joy and blissful mirth As the days of yore
.
