Jim the Giraffe

Jim, the giraffe was a little toddler
He trotted to school every morning
Along went the chimp, calf & deer
Dancing, jumping and singing.

One fine day the chimp told Jim
“Hey your necks just too long?”
Jim looked down and found
“Indeed my neck is too long.”

“Mom, Jim said why are giraffes so?
No other animal has such an oddity on”
Mom said “I don’t know my son
But God does everything for a reason”

Jim cried and tied his neck tight
But it just kept on growing
Everyday the little ones made fun
And poor Jim, kept on crying

The forestland was no more so
For the Sun had turned harsh
The carpet laid was yellow now
All dry was the lake & the marsh

Twigs were all there was of trees
And animals had to starve
The four little friends were now free
For schools declared a leave

The chimp, calf and deer all came
Along with the papa and the mamas
For they were thin from hunger pangs
So sad was the whole saga

Jim and Jim’s mom played host
For they were the only ones who ate
Their necks were longs and reached the throes
Of any tree in the arid state

Jim smiled now as he plucked the leaves
Atop the evergreen trees that grew
He shared them with his little friends
And now he really knew
All so different and sometimes odd
All for a special reason
Thanks he said to the God
Now, then and every season!

Depth of your heart

I love you & I love you lots
I know you love me more from the depth of your heart

I love the person,
Who took the pains for me,
The one who kissed and fondled me
The one who protected me from colds,
From dangers, daggers and darkness’s fold

I love the person
Who sat up at night - late
To watch the mercury rising during my fever state
To complete the craft project for my school
To make the hot savories and desserts cool

I love the person
Whose life knows no other aim
Than me, mine and & my fame
Whose thoughts are all centered about me
Whose eyes smile when me they see

I love you & I love you lots
I know you love me more from the depth of your heart

You love the person
Who kicked and wetted your clothes
Who drove you nuts & gave you blows
Who gave you no time for self, no leisure
Who felt your goal was her complete pleasure

You love the person
Who talked back and chattered
Arguing things that really don’t matter
Who did not live upto your expectations
Who did not become the object of all’s admirations

You love the person
Who saw you and just walked away
Who Made you keep all your emotions at bay
Who left for a life of her own
Who left you empty and all alone

I’ve never given anything to you To repay your selfless true love,
But believe me Mom I love you & I love you lots

The things I love doing with you

A poem dedicated to my spouse

When our naked faces are so close
And the deep eye meets the deep eye
I love the spontaneous smile that flows
As the mix of innocence and pureness flash by

When the devil distance is just about nil
The hug’s warmth transforms to pressure
As incessant love in my heart fills
I love that moment’s closeness and pleasure

When the pleasant playfulness is brought
& the bosom swells with satisfaction
As the eyes see through to my heart
I love the happiness that doubles in reflection

When over me in little games you win
Do the thing no man has ever done
The regal smile that swarms within
I love that winning streak you don

When I know not something and you do
Try to teach me and chatter on
I love the otherwise boring lecture too
For then a conversation is born

My poem actually has a false title
For they are meant to tell all I like doing with you
And I realize as I sit and think through
I love every little thing I do with you

Print my Love

A poem for my husband

Print my love, my love, my sweetheart
For nothing, just nothing can do us apart
Print my love, my love, my sweetheart

Print my love on the eternal sands of time,
Announce it in the tingling of the little chimes
Ride it on the white foam that races the waves
& Carve it on stonewalls in unexplored caves

Print my love, my love, my sweetheart
For nothing, just nothing can do us apart
Print my love, my love, my sweetheart

Print my love in the lulls of spring’s song
As bees, crickets and lovebirds do chirp along
May hues of the sky swish swash our mirth
As the sun in the horizon rejoices love’s birth

Print my love, my love, my sweetheart
For nothing, just nothing can do us apart
Print my love, my love, my sweetheart

The Wait

There were days in the past when I did see her
What beauty what bliss did surround her
As she came this way, the village changed
They stopped in happiness, every man in range

Her pace was first slow like the lub-dub of the hearts
She seemed to be a magician throwing joy for starts
I was shy at first and watched through my window sill
Longing to be out with her dancing in the distant hills

Day and night all waited just to catch a glimpse
And I did too yearning from my gut to crimps
And one beautiful day after years of wait
There she came in the usual slow gait

This time I ran out of my house in pure love
Bending my knees thanking every God above
I smelt her, felt her and touched her as she came
The rain that came to win the draught’s games

My Deepavali Poem

Deepavali - Days of yore

The months that lead to Deepavali in eager mirth I used to wait
For dainty dresses in pairs and threes; to choose the best colour was the joyful bait
.
Shopping yesterday today and tomorrow for clothes, sweets and modish crackers,
Innocent joy filled the gaps of a school day as mom was busy analyzing the recipe tracker.
.
Dad was the ever benevolent, making time for all my crazy whims and wishes
A black cap gun, a snake, a train - the list of nascent wishes never finishes
.
The Dday dawned; Oh no for the day has not yet dawned, its dark & our eyes are awake n bright Sweet Mom’s sweets start the festive moods & the thousand-walla is tempting for the light
.
The dresses and their newness creates a resplendent smile, a feeling of love, warmth & real joy
After lighting crackers for a long long while, the soft Idli’s with sweets n savouries we enjoy
.
Then relatives swarm the house with gifts & love always smeared with chit-chats & more fun
Elders blessings & youngsters pranks - The lovely day; in comparison is none.
.
Happy Deepavali - Wishing all my friends & relatives, let happiness come your way more & more
May you have the same joy and blissful mirth As the days of yore
.
